A short summary of this update — what changed on the ground and what's next.

Wonde Moi Village Resort sits about two miles off Gboyama Town, on the road toward Blama — in Dia, Wonde Chiefdom, Bo District, Sierra Leone.
This has been a labor of love for years: clearing the land, raising the first lodges, planting the orchards and rice, and working hand in hand with the local community to build a place that gives back more than it takes.
The vision is holistic — a retreat where guests rest, learn, and reconnect with nature, while the surrounding village shares in the work, the harvest, and the future. It is tourism built on respect: for the environment, for indigenous practice, and for the generations who will inherit this ground.

Every part of Wonde Moi is planned around five guiding principles — so comfort, conservation, and culture move as one.

Eco-lodges and round houses built from local materials, powered by solar, with water-conservation and composting systems.
Pristine, protected surroundings with a low carbon footprint and dedicated wildlife & nature zones.
Local community at the heart of operations — authentic cooking, language, crafts and respect for sacred sites.
A visitor center, guided interpretation, and conservation workshops and volunteering programs.
Hiking trails, biking paths and canoe routes, with limited vehicle access to keep the air and ground clean.
Drumming, dance, ceremony and story — the culture of this place isn't a performance for visitors, it's the daily life that guests are welcomed into.
More than a place to stay — a living farm and cultural home. Here's what's taking root across the property.

Hand-painted guest houses celebrating Sierra Leonean heritage, built from local materials.

Pineapple, banana, mango, pawpaw, coconut and more.

Planted and harvested with the community.

Cassava, cacao, citrus — straight from the land.

Freshwater aquaculture on site.

Free-range flocks raised on the grounds.

Goats and herds in the forest shade.

Quiet paths winding through palm forest and farmland.
From sunrise hikes to harvest days and cultural evenings — every experience connects you to the land and the people of Wonde Chiefdom. A few adventures are guided just beyond the campus.
